Product Description
This medication is a synthetic vitamin D analog, prescribed for hypocalcemia in patients undergoing chronic renal dialysis. It helps proper absorption and use of calcium and phosphate in the body.
It works by helping the body to use more of the calcium found in foods and supplements.
PO- The recommended initial dose is 1 mcg (0.02 mcgkg) to 2 mcg administered three times weekly, approximately every other day. It comes as a tablet and capsule to take by mouth, with or without food.
